1996–97 Minnesota Timberwolves season
The 1996-97 NBA season was the Timberwolves' 8th season in the NBA.〔(1996-97 Minnesota Timberwolves )〕 Shooting guard Ray Allen was selected as the team's fifth pick in the 1996 NBA Draft, but was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks for Stephon Marbury. The Timberwolves finished third in the Midwest Division with a 40-42 record, making their first playoff appearance. Tom Gugliotta and Kevin Garnett were selected in the 1997 NBA All-Star Game, and Marbury made the NBA All Rookie First Team. In the Western Conference First Round, the Timberwolves were swept by the Houston Rockets.
